Fed: Helicopter tender request goes out
The Australian Army has taken its first step towards buying up to 25 new helicopters.
Four American and European groups have been asked to tender for the advanced helicopters
which are already in service with other nations.
Defence Department under secretary MICK ROCHE says the successful tenderer should be
named within 12 months.
Mr ROCHE says the department is looking for a tender that offered the best value over
the expected 30 year life of the helicopters.
They will be used for reconnaissance, surveillance, fire support and escort missions.
