NSW: Oppn demands inquiry into hospital death=2

Health Minister Morris Iemma accused the opposition of pointing the finger before the
exact details of the case were known.

A spokesman said the woman had arrived at Sutherland shortly after midnight yesterday
morning with heart problems, but was not considered a priority case until her condition
worsened 40 minutes later.

After being admitted, the woman died some seven hours later.

The spokesman said an investigation would be held into her death but in the meantime
the opposition should hold judgment.

"Once again, the opposition has taken the first opportunity available to question patient
care delivered in our hospitals without waiting for an investigation to even commence,"

he said.
