NSW: Forty people treated in fumes leak
Forty people have been treated by paramedics after toxic fumes spread into a factory's
air-conditioning system in Sydney's west today.
An ambulance spokesman says 16 of the victims were taken to hospital with minor problems.
The workers fell ill when fumes from a butane-powered concrete-cutting machine at the
Ashfield factory were spread through the building by the air-conditioning system this
afternoon.
He says butane produces carbon monoxide fumes, the spokesman said.
